I was fortunate to cover Hall of Fame coaches, star players and incredible games. I'll remember helping hold open the Smith Center doors as a woman walked toward the exit pushing Dean Smith, who was seated in a wheelchair. Noticeably weak two years before his 2015 death, Smith raised his index finger and pointed it in an appreciative manner, thanking us for the assist. (Fayetteville Observer)
