Tim Federowicz signs minor league deal with San Francisco Giants

Former UNC catcher Tim Federowicz agreed to join the San Francisco Giants on a minor league deal Tuesday. The 29-year-old backstop has mashed Triple-A pitching over the years but has a career .194 batting line in the big leagues. With Buster Posey behind the dish in San Francisco, Federowicz will likely have to settle for an organizational depth role.
