After giving older North Carolina fans stressful purple flashbacks for much of the first half, the Tar Heels finally took control to advance past Lipscomb 84-66 in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday . It was at the old Charlotte Coliseum that the 1982 national champion UNC team struggled against another team wearing purple: James Madison.
