Tar Heels' trifecta trumps 'Thad Five' for No. 1
Posted Jun 12, 2006
The battle for the title of top recruiting class in men's basketball was so close that the runner-up could make a strong claim of victory. After all, Ohio State coach Thad Matta managed to coax 7-foot center Greg Oden, the consensus National Player of the Year, out of Indiana. But the class bound for North Carolina is a tad better. Coach Roy Williams netted the top-rated power forward (Brandan Wright), the top-rated point guard (Tywon Lawson), and the top-rated shooting guard (Wayne Ellington).
