Andrew Miller named finalists for amateur baseball award

UNC pitcher Andrew Miller is among five finalists for the 2006 Golden Spikes Award, which is given to amateur baseball's top player, USA Baseball announced Thursday. Washington pitcher Tim Lincecum, Long Beach State third baseman Evan Longoria, Vanderbilt pitcher David Price and Texas center field Drew Stubbs are the other finalists. Miller won 11 games for the Tar Heels, recording 102 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.07. He was named pitcher of the year in the ACC.
