UNC Basketball's 1986-87 senior class holds the unique distinction of being part of two Tar Heels teams that went unbeaten in the ACC regular season but didn't reach a Final Four or win an ACC Tournament championship. Their four losses came by a total of 12 points. They were led by seniors Kenny Smith and Joe Wolf and a freshman named J.R. Reid.
