Tar Heels fight hard, but fall to S. Carolina

By the time South Carolina’s Cody Wells leveled Brandon Tate in the first half, a hit that kept Tate off the field for the entire second half, it looked as if South Carolina had delivered the knockout blow to the host Tar Heels. North Carolina got off the mat thanks to a fourth-quarter rally, but the Gamecocks hung on to take a 21-15 victory and hand the Tar Heels their fourth loss this season by a touchdown or less.
