Roy Williams never imagined topping Dean Smith’s legacy

Roy Williams never dreamed this could happen. Back in 1982, as an assistant under legendary coach Dean Smith at the University of North Carolina, Williams was just satisfied being part of Smith’s first national championship team. At that time, never did Williams imagine he’d not only carry on Smith’s legacy, but surpass his mentor by leading the Tar Heels to three national titles.
