UNC Softball Powers Past Costal Carolina 16-11
An offensive explosion powered the North Carolina softball team to a 16-11 win over Coastal Carolina on Wednesday night (

The North Carolina softball team picked up two wins on Saturday against Appalachian State and Southern Illinois to move to 3-1 on the young season. UNC scored a gritty 6-5 win over Appalachian State and downed Southern Illinois by a score of 3-0. Through two starts this season, Kenna Raye Dark has a 0.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched. (

UNC Softball Run-Rules App State, Falls To Auburn To Begin Season
UNC Softball opened the season by run-ruling Appalachian State 8-0 and falling to Auburn 8-1 on Friday. Grace Jackson had a solid day in the two games finishing with four hits and three runs. Kiannah Pierce last played 1,006 days ago, missing the last two seasons due to injury. Not only did she start in left field, but she got a hit in her first at-bat. (

UNC Softball Adds Big South Player of the Year Lexie Roberts
The Big South Player of the Year, Lexie Roberts, is the newest member of the UNC softball team. Roberts, a Mebane, N.C., native, is joining the Tar Heels after two seasons at Radford. A two-time All Big South selection in the outfield, Robert led the conference last season in batting average (.413), on-base percentage (.436), hits (62) and triples (5). (

UNC Softball Signs In-State Transfers Lindsay Lumsden, Rayna Blackwell

Megan Smith Lyon has announced the addition of a pair of in-state transfers who will play for the Tar Heels this fall as two of four offseason transfer additions. Lindsay Lumsden and Rayna Blackwell, both rising sophomores, join Carolina from Campbell and Charlotte, respectively. Lumsden was the 2024 CAA Rookie of the Year. (

Eight Tar Heels Named To Softball All-ACC Academic Team
Eight UNC softball players have been named to the 2024 All-ACC Academic Team. The Tar Heels named include Skyler Brooks, Alex Coleman, Kenna Raye Dark, Isabela Emerling, Bailey McCachren, Carlie Myrtle, Britton Rogers, and Carsyn Snead. It is the third career honor for Brooks and second for Dark, Emerling, McCachren, Myrtle, and Snead. (

UNC Softball Assistant Coach Maddie Holub Inducted Into MIAA Hall Of Fame
Former Fort Hays State softball standout Maddie Holub was inducted into the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Hall of Fame on Monday at the yearly MIAA Awards Celebration. Holub played softball at FHSU from 2010-2013 and capped her career with an epic senior season that saw her win MIAA Pitcher and Player of the Year honors. (
